Research interests

Fernanda is interested in food safety, microbiology, antimicrobial materials, dry-surface biofilms, epidemiology, and community health. Her previous work examined zinc gallo-germanate nanomaterials as potential antimicrobial surface coatings.

Current research

  • Investigating dry-surface biofilm formation by Listeria monocytogenes on food-contact surfaces.

Outside the lab

Enjoys tennis, running, swimming, volunteering, and student leadership activities.
